  • Becareful of What You Wish For aka Where'd the Road Go? (Long with Video)

I guess this would be a good spot for this story. Dunno if the Brain Burp would be on my part, my friend's, or the both of us combined.

One of my best friends and I drove up to Brian Head, UT a couple of weeks ago to go snowboarding. What an adventure that turned out to be.

Our journey started at about 9:30am that morning. We wanted to leave earlier, but I got off work at midnight the night before and I needed sleep ;p Anyway, we get to St. George, UT (a little over half way) and pull off for energy drinks and a bathroom break. My friend decides he wants to "Video Blog" the trip and we start filming. This is important for comedic effect as well as it's the cause of the brain burp.

At this point in the trip, we're a little worried about the snow levels because despite the weather reports we got, we don't see any snow on the mountains, let alone in the area here where we normally did. By the time we hit Cedar City, UT the snow is starting to come down, but it's still not quite what we're used to.

When we finally get to Parowan, UT (the turn off to head up the mountain to the resort) the snow is coming down hard and the higher we get up the mountain, the harder it's coming down.

Near the top of the mountain, my friend rolls down the passenger side window and leans out to film how hard the snow is coming down and see if he can see the road any better than I can. This, of course, causes my windshield to fog up instantly and I now can't see shit. Where before I had trouble seeing the road, now I was having trouble seeing the hood of my SUV.

More importantly, I now couldn't see where the road turned and DROVE OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. Thankfully, we only went down about 30 feet before it leveled off again. However, we stopped about 3 feet shy of a 10 foot dropped that would've totaled my SUV and who knows what it would've done to us.

The worst part about this is we were only about 50 yards from the parking lot for the lodge.

We climbed up the mountain and flagged down a local cop to call a tow truck for us. About an hour and $150.00 later, we were in the parking lot for the lodge. BTW, I lost my cellphone climbing up the mountain.

The day got better with some good runs down the mountain, even though my friend hurt himself trying to ski for the first time (He shoulda stuck with his board).

Anyway, if you wanna see the video you can find it here:

Just be warned, the language is NSFW and some jokes may be considered tasteless.

Had to laugh when I heard the bit about "how many of you have been dragged out of a snowy ditch by a tow truck", as I actually have been, in Wyoming, on my way back to Maine from Utah.
