  • "Why is the gate not going up?"

The phone inside the booth rings. I look up & see a black car at the exit gate.

me: "Visitor parking booth. How may I help you?"
female customer: "Why is the gate not going up?"
me: "Because you have to pay for your parking."
female customer: "So do I put a coin in the slot?"
me: "You put a token in the slot. A token costs $5.00"
female customer: "So where do I pay at?"
I tell her where to pay at
female customer: "So I have to pay inside the building?"
    me: "Correct"

She curses under her breath & backs up.

I'm gonna go all the way out on a limb here and ask.

There's a big sign before you get to the gate, explaining the whole visitor parking process written at, say, a fifth-grade reading level?

And very few people take the time to read the damn thing?

    Aren't people fun?
I have a map of the world. It's actual size.

Having several 'pay before you attempt to leave' parks around here, they all have these signs at the entrance, every few car parks, as you leave a pedestrian exit, and well before the vehicular exit, yes.

It's pretty much impossible to miss that you were expected to have already paid by now.

so ummm... maybe reply number one has the answer to this but maybe i am just being a bit obtuse... how exactly is this an SC? As soon as they got the info they needed they didn't argue and didn't trouble you anymore. I could see this being a brain burp or oops... but SC? really?

I suspect that this sort of thing is a constant hassle in snugglegirl's day, and she just wants to vent.

The customer here isn't outright sucky, so I'm going to move this to Brain Burps.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com
