So my entire carriage full of items is too big to come through express?

I'm on express. 12 Items or FEWER (although the sign uses the grammatically incorrect "Less" -- but don't get me started on that) but when it's not too busy up to around 25 items is alright with me.

This guy comes into my line with a carriage piled to the ceiling with items.

Me: Sir, this is express.
Guy: *blank stare*
Me: It's 12 items or fewer.
Guy: *blank stare* So you mean I have too many items?
Me: Yes.
Guy: *doesn't move*
Me: You have too many items; you'll have to go to another line.
Guy: *blank stare, but eventually moves*

ahaha. I'm actually surprised he didn't transform into a raging SC. Redirecting someone to another line is usualy the trigger for major suck.
