  • He thought he gave me a $20.00.

Ok so man orders couple drinks, he hands me a $10. I give him his change and he said he gave me a $20. I doublecheck to make sure and he did give me a $10.00. I'm thinking, all great...this is all I need right now. I guess his wife gave him the money and he came back and apologized and that he indeed gave me a $10. Phew...

That's why I always say out loud, "That's from 10 dollars."

Ten dollar bills are weird. Fives and twenties are more useful and more common, ten is the oddball in between.

I went to one fast food restaurant and gave them a ten, they returned change as if it was a five. I complained; they looked at me as if I were scamming them, but relatively quickly gave me another five dollars. (They may have remembered me as a regular customer.)

The next day I went to another restaurant in the same chain and gave them a ten, and they thought I'd given them a twenty. They were startled when I handed back ten dollars and told them they'd given me too much change.

Telling a cop, "My taxes pay your salary!" is dumb.
Telling a cop you demand your shit without paying taxes is even more dumb.

I put a €20 note into a machine a few days ago, and it not only failed to recognise it, but actually "ate" it. Just below the slot were pictures of €5 and €10 notes showing which way to insert them - but I hadn't registered that the €20 note wasn't on the list. (In my defence, the €20 and the €5 are similar colours.)

Fortunately I was able to find an actual human to help, and who believed me at face value, so I didn't end up out of pocket.

Hmm, €20 are more blueish and €5 are more greenish, but both are pretty pale, so I can see how that would happen...

I can't even tell the difference from the colour when they're in my wallet. I have to look at the size and how worn they are (€5s get much heavier use). The icons on the machine were really too small to read.

Anyway, it was stupid of the machine to retain the note rather than giving it back. I know that's what human cashiers are supposed to do if they suspect a forgery, but machines aren't yet smart enough for that to be reasonable - and they give back coins they don't recognise.

Yeah, I'm always even more reluctant to put notes in a machine than I am to put coins. If only for the fact that, well, notes are worth more money than coins. ^^

I really hate it when a machine eats my money. Though, around here, they tend to give back notes and retain coins they don't recognise, rather than the other way around.

Ah, to have machines that work perfectly... One can only dream...

I would have used coins if I had any. Sigh.

I'll probably have to use the same machine later this week. Wish me luck...

Funny thing about tens at my casino, they are not in the kiosk machines. You will get two fives but they do not dispense tens. I don't know why they don't put tens in there but the only way to get them is to go to the cashier or ask a slot person.

The only kind of money I Have a problem with is old hundreds, they're really hard to tell if they're fake. Some have no strips and sometimes its hard to see the blue line thingys.

But anyway, fifties are the oddballs to me. Not many people use those.

Or they're like me, and suddenly realized the mistake. I usually know something's wrong straight away.
