First, some background...
I have a habit... a tradition, if you will... of hurting myself when I drink. In almost all cases, it's my head. To the point where a group of friends make me wear a helmet when i drink. Hence the username "Crash Helmet." In most cases, it's acrobatic stupidity or the uncontrollable urge to climb things. In some, however, it's pure instinct and reaction that gets me hurt, as in this case here.
Last week, I flew out to the San Francisco Bay Area for a family friend's wedding and a vacation. The first night in town, a friend and I went to a local sports bar to get some drinks and watch all of the baseball games being shown. He's introducing me to all of his friends and one of them is this 6'7" biker looking dude they call "Stretch."
Stretch gives my friend a hug and I stupidly say "Where's my hug?" (Brain Burp #1) Stretch decides he's going to throw me over his shoulder into a fireman's carry.
I, not being aware of his intentions, quickly go into reaction/instinct mode and put him in a choke hold to hold onto him (Brain Burp #2).
Stretch, not expecting my reaction, ends up falling backwards and sends me crashing head first into the wall.
Both customers and employees start freaking out, asking if I'm ok and if they need to call an ambulance. I assure them that I'm fine, just a little shocked.
No concussion, no blood, and, very surprisingly, no bruise (I did have a red mark for the next few days, but that was it). I read a article once that said something about people that have been drinking have less chances of concussions. I don't remember if it was because of the thinning of the blood or something else. I'll have to try and find the article when I get home from work.
