I was sitting at the bar of my favorite sushi place. The fella next to me ordered sake nigiri but it came came out "saakke niger-ee". The poor server had a hard time not laughing.

Reminds me of my friend/fellow go player. When he uses the term "nigiri" (in go it's like a mini-game to decide who plays first) he always says "[N-Word]-eee" for some reason
I'm used to his mispronunciations now but when I first met him I was always uncomfortable to hear him say it, even though he didn't mean it like that.

I recently went to a brand new deli that opened up in town. The food was good, service was excellent, except for when my hubby ordered a gyro sandwich. Most people know that a "gyro" is Greek, pronounced like "euro". The poor server, who barely spoke English, let alone Greek, had no clue what we were talking about until his super walked by and says:
"Oh, the 'GIE-ros,' that's what I always call them!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
