So, I worked day shift yesterday, 9 to 4, no problem. It was busy, but I'm used to that. I had help in the form of a co-worker on a second till, so it wasn't horrible. A lady and her husband come to my register to check out, and I notice they have a donut box. I ring up their other items, and then, the following conversation takes place:
ME: Alright, and how many donuts do you have? A full dozen?
LADY: No, Six.
ME: Alr--
LADY: (with a self-satisfied smile) Six plus one!
ME: Okay then (punches it into register, finishes transaction)
Really? Six plus one is seven? Wow. Amazing. After they left, coworker L, who was working the second register, shook her head, laughed, and said "Did you KNOW that six plus one is seven?" I couldn't help but to burst out laughing! Honestly...I promise I got past the basic math they teach you in kindergarten. I know many donuts are in a group of seven. I'll give her a break, because it was a little after ten ,and she was trying to keep up with kids as well, but still. Simple math is called simple for a reason!
