  • If you go into a store for a job application...

...it's probably a wise idea to *not* wear your t-shirt with a marijuana leaf on it. Yes, even if it is a rhinestone-encrusted marijuana leaf. It may be a bit fancier, but still...no.

Yep, true story from last week!

Sad thing is, this time of year the "Christmas curve" is very much in effect. Anybody who turns in an application while wearing clothes of some sort, breathing, and not using a drool cup will probably get hired.

    At least at the swamp.

As many people as are out of work, is there still a Christmas curve?

To the OP: If you don't think people should wear marijuana leaf shirts to apply, next you'll probably say I shouldn't wear my Customers Suck! hat to the interview
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

The economy was already in the shitter this time last year, and the seasonal hires were no better than they've been in the past.

So the curve was definitely in effect last year. I'll know if it's in effect this year in about a month.

Nah, I say keep the hat

I was actually hired at my current job during the holiday season last year, and then they kept me as regular associate along with only 2 or 3 other holiday hires.

This store gets crazy busy around the holidays, and all interviews are group ones. There seems to be a lot of demand for positions here...but only a very small percentage get hired, so they can actually afford to be choosy. On my interview, there were around 10 people and only 2 of us got hired. Many of the people that are hired, even after all that end up being no calls/no shows, but the company is used to it...kinda sad actually.

If you get called back for an interview, I suggest not wearing shorts and a baseball cap, then wandering away from the info desk while you are waiting for the manager to come out.
