Covering for breaks, and on an express lane for a few minutes. Little old woman walks up with a loaded cart.
Me: "Ma'am, this is an express lane."
OW: "Oh, no, this is fine. I have too much for that."
Me: "I mean, you're in an express lane. Fifteen or less."
OW: "I don't need an express lane. I have a lot more than 15."
Me: "I know, what I'm saying is this is an express lane."
OW: "But don't I have too much for that?"
Me: "Yes... look up here." *point to sign* "You're in the express lane. She can get you on number nine."
At which point she gave me a confused look and moved down to the next line. I'm still not sure she understood me.
Me: "Ma'am, this is an express lane."
