OK, in my new store, the cigarettes are kept behind the counters. Just like old store.
Annnnyway, the policy for customers who want to add cigarettes to their purchase is exactly the same as that for old store as well. That is, we scan everything on my register, total it, save it, take it AND the customer to the service desk and they add the cigarettes and pay there.
In most cases, the customer will tell the person behind the COUNTER what they want.
I had one customer today tell me about five times between my register and the smoke counter that they wanted <insert brand here> of cigarettes. I cannot sell you cigarettes. I am not trained. Chances are I will be trained at some stage, but until then, I am not trained.
