  • Yes, the brand is the brand....

I work in a home improvement warehouse type of place.

Several months ago, there was a special on all LG brand appliances (15% off or something like). We had an LG refrigerator up front to advertise this fact.

I was up front directing customers when a couple walked in and this conversation ensued:

    CM - Clueless Man
    Me

CM - (Looking at the refrigerator) We need a freezer, are they all 15% off?
Me - No, just the LG brand.
    CM - What is LG?
Me - It's the brand name...
CM - So is it a Fridgidaire or a GE?
Me - No, it's an LG.
CM - But who makes it? What brand is it?
    Me - ... LG ... That's the brand.
    CM - I don't understand...
Me - (NO SH*T) Um, well, the 15% off is on LG brand, go (directions to appliances), Coworker will help you.

    Seriously, how is that hard???

I'd have been confused too. I thought LG only made cell phones with incredibly annoying user interfaces. Now you've got me imagining making a sandwich out of a refrigerator where everything is inside at least three layers of nested drawers and as soon as you get out each item the whole thing slams shut and you have to start over for the next.

Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

You never saw their old commercials? Their slogan was "Life is good" or something like that. They make anything and everything. Their TVs are pretty solid, but I'm not sure about other product lines.

LG is actually about six different companies - one for each son or something. Apparently it stands for "Lucky Gold (Star)".

LG does make a lot of different items, more than most people know about.

This guy just didn't seem to understand that LG was a brand, not a type of another brand.
