  • Even if it's in the bag?

I was doing my rounds and I saw a lady...with a Chihuahua...in a pink sweater...in one of those dog carrying purses. I told the lady dogs are not allowed in the mall and she seemed genuinely surprised that it was not ok even if the dog was in the purse.

Um, it's in the purse, which is IN THE MALL!

Thank god I haven't run into any of those Paris Hilton wannabe's at any of the malls I go to.

It's strange where people bring their dogs if they think they are small enough. I saw a lady with a small dog in the grocery store last week. Yeah, that's not against the health code at all!

Its all because of when the rich and famous does it. They get away with it.

I've actually been guilty of that years ago . . .I had just left from the local animal shelter with Xanadu (she was my half Chow/half Cocker Spaniel mix who died last summer) when she was just a small pup (more like a big ball of fur with two beady eyes) and I had to stop by the store to pick up some puppy food for her.

I slipped her in under my shirt (which was white, so she blended in nicely) and slipped her into the store manager's office so I could run over to the pet food aisle and pick out what I needed. I got stopped by a coworker who spotted her and said "you know she can't bring you in here with her."

The MOD didn't chew me out over sneaking her in . . . he had Xanni in the office playing with her while I went to go get her food and I almost didn't get her back on the way out.

I think in my store it's ok for people to have dogs(small ones), as long as they aren't walking on the floor, and sit in the cart. People usually have some sort of blanket for the dog to sit on as well.

Every once and a while I see a tiny dog walking around on a leash with someone, and when I get a closer look it has a vest on it showing it's a service dog, so it's ok

Ugh. We have a few regulars at the wholesale club who do this. What's more, they KNOW they're not supposed to have the dog with them, so they time their entrance to the club so they come in when there's a group of people, so the FDLP person won't stop them.

One customer does the tote-bag-pup thing. Another pushes their dog in a stroller, which has a see-thru cover zipped onto it, so the dog can't jump out.

Then there was the woman who came in with her CAT, who was tucked into her jacket. Cat was clearly a bit freaked out, turning this way and that, squirming, but she had a pretty good grip on it and wasn't letting the cat escape. She admitted that she knew she shouldn't have brought it in, and won't do it again.

I was leaving walgreens when I spotted a lady carrying a medium sized dog (she was actually having trouble carrying it) into the store. Thank god I was leaving. I'm allergic to dogs. But WHY bring your pet into the store? I understand PETSmart but nowhere else! Unless its a medical thing but this one wasn't.

I can answer this one. Back when my family had the rabbit, we'd take him on vacation with us (he didn't like an empty house, and it's a big imposition to get someone to take him, with all the mess and the potential for damage). When we were stopping, there wasn't always somewhere we could sit with him outside the car. We really couldn't leave him in the car, even with someone, because he hated car trips, and would start freaking out anew when the car stopped (we're assuming he remembered trips to the vet). So every now and then my mom would plop him in her purse (he was not only a dwarf, but a runt, so he fit) and take him in. No one minded, otherwise I suspect I'd have been told to go hold mom's purse out in the parking lot.
