  • Dinner Disaster

Yesterday, I put some pepper rice in an empty margarine containter so I could take it to work with me to have on break. When I was on break, I found out that I brought the container that had the margarine so I ended up getting chicken from the deli to make up for screwing up my dinner.

I worked with a guy one time who did that.

Luckily, we were right next to several fast food places, so he was able to get something to eat.

At first, he was upset, but then he laughed about it.

He was always really careful after that to make sure he checked his container before grabbing it.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

One time I made homemade naan (Indian flatbread.) The recipe made a ton of dough, so I decided not to fry all of it right away. I wrapped the leftover uncooked dough in some plastic wrap and put it in a large ziploc bag, and the leftover cooked naan in separate plastic wrap. My husband wanted to take the leftover naan and whatever we had with it for lunch the next day, so I put it all in a large ziploc bag and set it next to the uncooked naan dough in the fridge.

Of course, the next morning when I was packing his lunch, I accidentally grabbed the uncooked dough. I think he ended up going to a nearby cafeteria for a sandwich instead.

        I can top this...

When I was a kid I lived on a lake. We would fish in the lake, using worms as bait. The way you keep earthworms alive in captivity for fishing is to keep them in a tub of dirt in the fridge. We reused a lot of plastic tubs and the worms usually ended up in a cottage cheese container.

You can imagine the number of times one of us went to the fridge at breakfast for cottage cheese, opened the container, and found worms instead. Once I ran to the house from the lake to get the worms for fishing, grabbed the container, ran back to the water, opened it, and found -- cottage cheese.

And this is why my mother had a policy of always mixing lid and bottom when storing leftovers. It won't help with the cooked naan vs dough, but it does cut down on worms vs cottage cheese and lunch vs margarine. Not eliminate it completely of course, but it does a lot.

Now if only there was more than one brand of margarine I could buy, so I could mix lids better.
