Typical patron (ie, one who doesn't want to use the catalog) comes up to me.
iw=idiot woman
me=
iw: I don't remember who wrote the White Queen.
me: ok, I 'll look it up.
iw: I can't remember her name...you know it?
me: is the author someone who writes historical novels?
iw: no, it's fiction
aside, I don't have a b.a. but I'm 100% positive novels are fiction.
me: There are many books by the title "White Queen"
iw: oh really (not sarcastic, just surprised)
me: *still looking* I think her name is Philipa...
iw: Philipa Gregory! *walks off to fiction*
If she was actually looking for White Queen, there are 30 copies and 70 holds. So no way for her to find a copy on the shelf. I'm assuming she might want to read other books by the same author...luckily she did not come back to complain it's not on the shelf.
Would it have killed her to say, "thank you?" Also, there are other books by that title. The two words are not so unusual, even if put together.
