Sunday night shift on the Self Checks, until close... someone came through a line with a case of beer, and of course, I get notified about it. So I go over and ask for his ID.
H: "I don't have it on me."
M: "Hmm..."
He then opens his overcoat, and shows off his manager badge, so, I go ahead and override the ID... Only to realize later that maybe, just maybe, he might've been testing me...

Perhaps, but if you already know that said manager is at least 21, then you could say you knew he was of age, and therefore didn't need to see his ID.
