So, I've just finished scanning a pile of items for a male customer, and told him the price. He's handed me a card, and said "credit please". I've just looked at the card, and then said "Uh, sir? This is your local club membership card," and given it back. Embarrased, he apologised and pulled out another card. Accepting this one, I've looked at it, looked at him, and then sighed. "Sir? This is your Medicare card." Now sufficiently embarrased, he quickly pulled out a $50, and then stuffed his card back into his wallet, right next to where I could see his credit card was! He couldn't get out of there quick enough!

Or when they hand you a Harris Teeter savings card at Food Lion . . .Quoth saturnz_dragon View PostI have people give me the wrong cards all the time. They get all huffy when they realize that their Walmart giftcard isn't going to work at Target. Duhhh
Come on folks, learn your COLORS and SHAPES. One's a red triangle shape, the other is a yellow oval (the older ones are rectangle.) Perhaps returning to Kindergarden would refresh your memory . . .

I have had people come up to the Service Desk and want to return stuff without a receipt (which we rarely do...only on our own store brand, grocery items or with a manager's approval). We can scan the barcode and determine if we carry the product. I don't know how many times I have scanned an item and told the customer that we don't carry the item, only to have them insist that they knew they had bought the product there. We would look at the box, and right on the box near the price would be "Kmart" or "Walmart".
