Some taste better than others. I avoid Red Bull for that reason, but there is a (local?) brand called Battery which is tolerable.

Where possible I prefer glucose drinks rather than caffiene ones - they have actual energy in them, not just stimulants.

ok I'm climbing to walls if I have more than 2 coffees too close to eachother.

:S 4 each! and fo KIDS! I HAVE heard that kids/people with ADD and ADHD can be somewhat calmed by the caffine...apprently (not a doctor) but still that'll be a fun ride home

Am I the only person wondering if she had a herd of people sleeping in her room? Not everyone fesses up since they'd have to pay more/get a second room.

I tried an energy shot one...smelled like Robitussin but I convinced myself it couldn't possibly taste that bad.

It took three tries to get it all down and I was gagging after each. Last time I'll be having one of those, thanks!

On the other hand, if the kids have ADHD or ADD, the caffeine is a quick and cheap way to chill them out.
            This.

I'm ADHD (before the ADD craze started and everyone was AD/H/D) and after about 3-4 cups of coffee I fall straight asleep with no problem.

            Edit: Funny story (i think).

When I was a teen, and Jolt Cola (2X THE CAFFEINE OF NORMAL SODA!~!!!!!) was way popular I drank like a 20 ounce of it. Very soon after, riding my bike home, I almost fell off it and passed out because I couldn't stay awake. But it still shouldn't be the go-to AD(H)D remedy. Caffeine is supposed to be pretty bad for the heart, isnt it? At least is 3+ cup quantities. Maybe I'm thinking of energy drinks and all their BS.

I have been told I do NOT have any sort of attention deficit disorder, and caffeine calms me down too. It won't put me to sleep, but it mellows me out, and deprives me of energy to the point where I can't pull off perky. When I cut out caffeine in first year (bye-bye yummies!), people were getting slightly scared by how energetic I was.

edit: I was told this while in the process of getting a psychological evaluation to see if I had anything. Basically, I went to the doctor to show my husband that I didn't have ADHD. I was right. Mostly. (I apparently behave like I have it, but concentrate too well to have it. I also got diagnosed with Asperger's. I'm still not sure who won that argument.)

Asperger's is actually fairly common, and comes in a variety of strengths and flavors. I'm likely a minor case, myself, though I'd never bothered to get eval'd.

Caffeine is a stimulant, and stronger stimulants are hard on the hearth.

One of my uncles managed to procure some powdered caffeine (a controlled substance, actually), and managed to blow his heart. Of course, he already had blood pressure issues that he didn't deal with, so nobody was surprised. Well, they were surprised at the powdered caffeine - everybody thought he was popping off to the garage to get himself soused.

Energy drinks have several (4-7) different stimulants at a time. (most common are usually Taurine, Ginseng and Caffeine)

I was dumb enough to get a Diet Red Bull (All the stimulants, none of the sugar. Bad idea) when I was younger. I was vibrating and I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without getting dizzy.

Also, Ginseng can cause Vertigo in some people... Like me.

Crack cocaine now has a domestically produced competitior.

Could just be a body chemistry thing. I don't know that ADD/ADHD is the only situation where that happens.

I also behave as if I have an attention deficit disorder, according to the psychometrist who was doing my tests. I think I drove him crazy...

The fact that caffeine mellowed me out so much was one of my husband's arguments for why he thought I had ADHD.

Yea...raw caffeine is dangerous stuff. You can actually get a contact high from it without proper protection. (At least, according to that Mythbusters episode about the Mentos/Diet Coke explosion.)

Best part of that episode was when Adam said that the caffeine he was measuring out actually scared him.
