Car gets towed in for excessive meter tickets. It got 4 of them, consecutively, on a Saturday in an otherwise-empty parking lot.
Monday morning, guy calls looking for his car, and we find out there's a bit more to it than your usual meter violation.
Seems the gentleman in question was planning to go out of town for the weekend and needed a place to leave his car, so he parked it at the meter, and seeing as how you get 30 minutes for a quarter in a meter, he apparently gleefully fed it NINETY-SIX quarters, unaware that the meter maxes out at 12 hours, and was too intent in his work to notice that after the 24th quarter was inserted, the time displayed on the meter stopped going up....
He wasn't sucky, just a little upset that his plan hadn't worked the way he expected it to.
I kinda feel bad for him, he tried to do the right thing, but was just a bit too dense for his own good.
Why he chose the meter approach, I'll never know, for $5 you can leave a car at a parking garage here in town for a whole day.
