Yesterday I was at the McDonalds drive-through and ordered a large Snickers Flurry - I tried the mini-size last week and really liked it. Order taker told me there was no such thing; they only had Oreo, M&M, or Reeses. I looked at the menu and, sure enough, it wasn't on there, but I told him I'd had one just last week... He insisted they'd never had Snickers.
So I decided on a large Oreo instead. Drove to the first window, paid; drove to the second window to wait.... The girl there handed me a cup that looked too small to be a large size ice cream, and I asked "Is this the large?"
"We don't have a large."
"No, I ordered a large Oreo Flurry."
"There isn't any. This is all we have."
So, I'm thinking I made a mistake reading the menu, and the guy who took the order neglected to tell me? "Okay, then could I at least get my receipt?"
She walks off, and a few minutes later the guy comes back and hands me a receipt for a lemonade and hamburgers. I tell him it's not mine, and he looks very confused before finally handing me my receipt....
Which says very clearly that I was charged $2.99 for a large Flurry.
At that point I park and go inside; the manager's standing right there at the counter so I wait for a minute until he's done with the people in front of me.
"I was charged for a large Flurry but this is what I got."
"Oh, we don't have any large Flurry."
"Do you mean you ran out of the cups?"
"No, no.... There are only two sizes."
"There are three on your menu...."
Dude WOULD NOT turn around to look at the menu and see what he was advertising! He grabbed two cups to show to me. "This is the snack size, and this is the regular. That's all we sell."
"Okay, but the menu says large, my receipt says large, I paid for a large, and now you're telling me it doesn't exist? Can you see why I'm confused?"
He took the receipt and then berated the order taker for ringing up what I had asked for! Then they took a drink cup and made a larger Flurry for me - so, more ice cream, yay! - but still insisted that there was no such thing as a "large size" Flurry without ever once LOOKING AT THE MENU to see that this non-existing product was being advertised for sale.
