I dunno what it is this month, but the customers are crawling out of their rocks to embrace 2010 with a 1985 point of view.

For the record, we only sell NEW stuff. We don't take back old stuff nor do we sell old games. Oldest stuff we carry is some PS2 games because they keep making them. We do not carry nor can order PS2s to go with them.
No sir, not even the guitar.
I swear sir, we can special order guitars for the Wii, XBox 360 PS3 and even PC, but not for PS2.
Because they don't make PS2s anymore sir.
I know they still make games sir, but my suppliers don't carry the guitars anymore.
No I can't order just the broken piece SHUT UP!!

    Oldie 1
This one happened awhile back. Customer comes in and see the Dual Play console.

C : What does this do?
Me: It plays NES and SNES games.
C : Okay.... Do you sell the games?
Me: ....Nnnnnnnnneeeeoooo we don't sir. Only Wii, X360, PS3 and PC starting at XP.

    Oldie 2

Customers have been coming in droves asking for blank VHS tapes. We don't carry them anymore. I don't know who would still carry them. This one however took the cake.

She wanted a VHS converter to play BETAs.

UPDAAAAAAATE! CDs lady, CDs!!!! I got a Commodore at home but I don't expect local electronics stores to carry floppies for it, c'mon!

    Stupid

Mom buys a CD for her daugther. About to leave the store when the son pipes up, holding a DS game.
    Son: Mom, buy me this!
Mom: No dear, I'll just get it on the internet!
Me: (I still stupidly think she'll buy it on amazon...)
Mom: *realizes I'm right there next to her and that I heard her* Oh, I'm only gonna pirate it A LITTLE BIT...
Me: saying "Shhhh!" but thinking SHUT UP YOU MORON!!!

    Something new

I just got a lady asking me for an MP3 ADAPTER, motioning around her head in a U shape.
Who wants to bet she meant earbuds?

      Oh my.

A couple of years ago I was looking around in Target and saw that they had blank Beta tapes. I don't know where they got them from and have often wondered if anyone bought them. I think I've got my answer.

You still don't go and say so to the clerk.

Funniest part is, I don't think they ever made an adapter to play Betamax tapes on a VHS machine. It's not just that the tapes are physically smaller, the recording method is just too different. They did make an adapter for VHS-C tapes to play (or record, I guess) on regular VHS VCRs, but the recording format on those is identical. She's either gonna have to haunt eBay for a working Betamax player, and good luck on that, or else send it out to be converted.

(I would have said, it's like trying to read Apple ][ disks in an IBM PC, except that someone did figure out a way to do that, provided you have both a 5¼" and a 3½" drive hanging off the same controller. Apparently his method uses some of the circuitry in the 3½" drive to give the other drive the ability to read Apple formatted disks. Unfortunately I had to replace my motherboard recently and the new one's floppy controller only supports one disk, I can't find any PCI or PCIExpress floppy controllers, and this board doesn't have any accessible ISA slots. Pretty sure it's there, buried in the firmware someplace, but they don't give you any way to plug into it.)

(Not to mention VLB. I do have one such floppy/IDE controller in my parts box. Fat lot of good that does me, or anyone else. Fortunately most of the Apple ][ software I ever had is now available online, so I don't have to fight with 25-year-old media that's probably turned into dust by now.)

VHS blank tapes are fairly easy to get online if you google it. But Betas? And a VHS converter to deal with Betas? As someone else said, I don't think that exists.

Wang, anyone? (Now all of you with dirty minds who are under 40 years old, go away!)

Wally World sells plenty of VHS tapes. AND Sony still makes the Playstation2. They're still selling like hotcakes allthough nowhere near as much as the Playstaion3.
Betamax vanished around the time 1990 rolled around...lol.

They did. My mother had one. Essentially it looked like a frame of a VHS tape which you inserted the Beta into. I haven't seen one in decades.

...is THAT what that thing was?! I had one of those we picked up at a Church Auction (the same one we'd somehow gotten that double-ended dildo that Dad named "Fred" before he found someone to give it to).

That was a messed up Auction.

Where did the double-ended dildo come from?
