  • Read your coupons before using them!

Had someone yesterday on my line who bought 12 containers of Dannon Light and Fit yogurt. He hands me a coupon for $1 off 12 Dannons. However, there's one problem:

The coupon specifically says it excludes Light and Fit! And that's all the yogurt he had!

Did they accept their mistake, or did they raise a fuss about it?

Fortunately, the person accepted the mistake and that he had made himself look stupid. He also kept all the yogurt.

Eh, I did that recently. I had one orange juice and didn't realize the coupon was for 2. The cashier pointed it out and I said "Oh, okay, sorry about that," paid for my groceries and went on my way. The coupon actually was the only reason I was buying OJ but I didn't feel like going back for another and I didn't really need two, anyway.

As long as they don't make a big deal out of it...

Oh I get people not reading the quantity needed for coupons ALL THE TIME. It's amazing.

I hate it when customers don't read everything on their coupons, but what I hate even more is when they make me read everything off the coupon. Then when the item they want is excluded they kick up a fuss about how our coupons exclude "everything."

Hahahahahaha, haha, ha...ohhh wow! I'm sorry, your subject line made me laugh. Customers reading coupons? Now THAT'S a novel idea! Hell, they barely manage to read signs that are placed at eye level, let alone coupons. Good luck with that, though!

Oh yes, don't get me started on (lack of) reading signs. If something on a sign is not in big black letters people will claim it's not there and then yell at us for false advertising.

Reminds me of a story of one woman came through my line with several 6pks of Dannon yogurt. I scanned them through and told her the total.

She then handed me a advertisement from the foil part of a multi-pack of yogurt which read "Get UP TO $15 OFF DANNON YOGURTS - visit our website for details."

She expected me to take off the $15, I realized.

I said, "No, that's not what the coupon says. You go to their site and print up $15 WORTH OF COUPONS."

She stood there, tapping her foot, looking at me, expecting me to to give her $15 off.

I explained again, "You need to go to the website to GET the coupons. This is NOT a coupon."

She realized she wasn't going to get $15 of yogurt for free. "FINE!" And then she stormed out.

                  Seriously.
