Well, Poster Dispatch reminded me of this one from when I worked at another mall about 5-years ago that was about 5/10 minutes from Lake Champlain; big lake!
This couple came-up to me, on a cell phone, frantic. Apparently they'd just gotten a call from their son who was stranded out on the lake as his boat had just broken down, and his radio was not working, and he didn't know know the number for the coast guard.
Well, this is a job for SECURITY OFFICER LADY!!!
So I called the local police, who gave me the number for the state police, who managed to transfer me to the local coast guard station out on the lake, who then took the description of the boat from the couple. They ended-up locating the boat and all was well. They were also sure to let him know to make sure his radio works next time, and gave him a direct contact number for the coast guard.
My Supervisor needed me to explain this twice when he saw my report.
