  • People who are worse at math than I am

I heard on the radio some new Chick Fila (I think) sandwitch is out now and the new location across town is giving out the first hundred free.

Peple were pretty much camped out for them.

Okay, let me get this straight. Say you show up two hours early. That's conservative, because if they're camping out, they're probably there longer. But lets say two just so we'll have a good simple, even number.

How much is this sandwitch worth? Four bucks? Five?

You're sitting out in the sun for two hours at two to two and a half bucks?

Seriously? That's what your time is worth? You're sitting on the pavement in the sun for a chicken sammich. For hours. Because it's free.

    Ooookay.

I don't get it, either. Just wait and pay the five bucks. Actually, if I have $5 for food, I'm getting something better than fast food.

I know! I would pay five bucks to AVOID waiting in a parking lot in the hot sun for two hours!

Alternately, some of those people could be homeless or otherwise without ready income.

At which point, hanging out for a couple of hours for free food isn't so bad a deal.

I was about to say the same thing. You know, especially in this economy and all.

Alternatively, if I had a laptop with wireless Internet and could telecommute work from the line...free sandwich!

California heat, no sir. Not for a five dollar sandwich

Actually, since it's been quite cool and damp here in sou Cali of late, this'd be a good time to try to take advantage of something like this.

naaaaaaaaaaah. its been hot up here in norcal (for the season). I'm not used to my bday being hot enough to wear shorts, let alone a pool party. This weather is freaking me out.

That kind of promotion has got to be hellish on the employees. Wonder how many EWs showed up insisting they should get a free sandwich even though they were customer 500 or so.
Something kind of sad about the way that things have come to be.

Sounds like the promo that Chik-fil-a did over here when it first opened. They were giving away a packet of 100 'free sandwich' tickets to the first 100 people camping out in the parking lot the day before the official opening. The rules were that once you got there, you were given a number and, once you got your number, you could not leave. They had games and free food from various vendors and one of the radio stations was there. I didn't participate, but my sister did. She was number...83 or something.
