The lobby is closed!

At my place of work our dining room closes an hour before our drive thru. But If the dining room closes and people are still eating we turn off half the lights and politely wait for them exit the premises. We cannot lock the doors, because people are still in there. So the other night about 6 people come in at once wanting some ice cream. We explain the dining room is closed, but we would be happy to make them an order to go. He says okay thats, fine. They order and he asks would it be okay if we sat here to eat our ice cream?! Did you seriously just to listen to what I said? It is closed, of course you can't!

It may not seem like a big deal, but if we want to get our work done the dining room must be empty! Silly people...

where I worked last the dining room couldn't be closed in the 24/7 grocery store

A. it contained an emergency exit for the whole grocery store.
B. there were no gates, doors, etc. There actually wasn't anything keeping customers out of the kitchen either!

It worked since it meant we didn't care if someone sat there in the middle of the night and ate something. No worries = no confrontation. All I care is that they threw away their trash. Most people did.
