This one was relayed to me by a co-worker who sells tobacco. We are wholesale so we have good tobacco prices, but we can only sell 5 cartons per person. Anything more means you have to show us your resale license and then we can sell you however many you would like.

C: I would like 7 of *insert brand*
CW: Sure thing, but thats over 5 cartons so can I see your resale license?
C: Resale license?
CW: Ahh, you must not be a business owner. I can only sell 5 cartons or less.
C: No no I own a business, but whats this license?
Cw: Err....if your intending to sell tobacco you need a resellers licence...
C: O, I dont have one of those....I never even heard of it!
Cw: Errr, it looks like this *shows him our resale license on the wall*
C: Alright i'll take 5 then.

Wasnt sucky but hope he isnt selling that stuff. but hey if its under 5 then its his ass and not ours :P

Although I really do have to wonder if he now gets the idea of store-hopping and buying up enough cartons so that he stays in the limit.

We had something similar in place at the wholesale club when I worked there. If you were buying 5 or more cartons of cigarettes, you had to fill out a form, even if it was only for personal use.

Thus, most personal use buyers ended up settling for 4 cartons. (No, you couldn't get around it by buying in multiple transactions. We'd make you fill out the form in that case.) The resellers already had all the paperwork on file anyway, so they didn't have to fill out the form.
