We had no less than 3 customers this past week who asked, "If the state shuts down, are you going to be closed?" Just because the word "state" is in our name, that doesn't mean we're run by the state. It means we're state chartered and regulated. And it's not even <state> we're chartered by. Most of our customers recall that our main branch is in <neighboring state> now. So no, if the state government shuts down, we'll still be open.

What if the state shuts down?
"I look at the stars. It's a clear night and the Milky Way seems so near. That's where I'll be going soon. "We are all star stuff." I suddenly remember Delenn's line from Joe's script. Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

You have my sympathies. A few months ago my state was a similar situation and I overheard some conversations that really made me facepalm.
"Did you hear? The state might shut down! It's gonna be total anarchy!"
"Good! I'm sick of obeying these low speed limits anyway!"
and this gem that a lady was having on her cell phone:
"Yeah, I thought I would stop and pick up a couple dozen cases of water, if the government shuts down, I'm just gonna barricade myself in when the riots start"

Just got a call: "Did social security checks come in? I wasn't sure, because the government's shut down.""I look at the stars.

Speaking of riots, apparently the government shutdown in Minnesota is also liable to cause a beer shortage.
Among the shut down government departments are the ones responsible for issuing licenses to bars and breweries. MillerCoors, for example, tried to renew their license early, but wasn't able to before the shutdown, and they're currently not licenses to sell beer in Minnesota. If the shutdown lasts to October, Anheuser-Busch will lose the ability to legally sell their products in Minnesota as well.
And there are quite a few bars that won't be able to (legally) order new stock once their current supply runs out...
So yeah, riots aren't out of the question...
