This was a couple of years back, but I still tell it to newbies.
The last Friday 13th movie came out the day before Valentine's day (which, incidentally, was Friday 13th) and I was on the elusive Box Office shift. A girl comes up to me.
Girl: One student for Friday 13th please.
Me: Do you have ID?
Girl: Sure.
She passes me an ID card for a local college (Sixth Form College, for Americans reading, is 16-19, occasionally with evening classes for mature students), which does have her date of birth on it, which was Valentine's day, her 18th birthday was the next day.
Me: I'm afraid you'll have to come in tomorrow to see this movie.
Girl: (confused) Why?
Me: The film is rated 18, and tomorrow is your 18th birthday.
Girl: Oh...
You feel bad when it's a matter of hours (this was about 9pm) but the law is the law.
