  • Oh crud...I am hours late!!

Woke up today ...noticed clock..and brain instantly went into "Oh crud! Somehow I over slept by hours, and I am late for work!!!" panic mode...so I hop up..fire up my computer trying to figure out how in the heck I am going to explain what happen...

Only to realize..that the clock is saying AM NOT PM. I was only about 9 hours early.

I've done that before....except I've assumed that it's 9am and I'm waking up thinking I've overslept, only to discover that it's actually 5am.

I once got up an hour early and didn't realize it. Left for work, bus was coming, got to work and the security guards says, "you're early today." I look at my watch...it was 7:20 AM. I didn't have to be there until 8:30.

      Damn.

I've done fireheart's and Mooncat's things. I've also showed up at work when I wasn't scheduled.

One of my friends got herself all ready and to uni on time...then found out that she was 2 weeks early because she had the wrong date!

I've done that a couple of times. Once showed up to work 4 hours early, convinced that I was 2 hours late.

The worst, though, was when I thought I woke up so late that I had missed my carpool to college. I threw on some clothes, grabbed my backpack, stole my grandmother's car keys so I could drive myself, made a mad dash to campus (35 miles in 30 minutes on back roads) only to discover that it was Saturday morning - my one and only day off from both work and school.

Hee, my Mom dragged me out of bed one day angry that I overslept (I was little!), was having me run all around getting ready for school, yelling "How could I have slept so late!?"When said groggily "Because it's SATURDAY Mommy!" Never seen Mom turn so red!

I've done that once to myself. I wake up 10 minutes before the kiddo so I can get my computer booted up and grab a glass of water, do the other little things.. Didn't get to the point of waking the kiddo because my computer told me it was Saturday. Sleep deprivation will do that to a brain.

Right now, my brain is trying to convince me that it's Sunday, since everyone is home due to a nasty stomach bug.
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

I am glad I am not the only one. I've done the "OMG I am late for school" bit on a Saturday before. That is always fun.

Got dressed in a hurry, ran to my car, and got ready to head to work one day. The problem? I had just finished two back to back 99 hour weeks..and had the week off (with pay) for doing so. I had gotten so use to working non stop, my body/mind couldn't grasp the concept of 'day off'.

I've woken up at a start, looked at the clock & seen the time, cursed my alarm, and started dressing before realising it's my day off... And by then it's usually too late to get back to sleep; when I decide to wake up, I'm usually "conscious" in a few seconds and no amount of co-ercing will get me back to sleep before my appointed time that evening.

ETA: I had a serious case of this last night, woken up just 2 hours after bedtime by an unnecessary phonecall (which shifted me into "get ready for bad news" mode)... Meaning I've been up since midnight! I shall post more about this in MiM later...

                            I've done what mytical's done...

was dead tired from working back to back open to close shifts at a pizza place....and went to bed early...while it was still daylight outside. friend called me later that evening, and I glanced at the clock CONVINCED I was late ( had to be in at 8am that morning and clock said 9) I PANICED but my friend could not figure out why I was so loopy....then he told me it was 9pm and he was sorry he woke me
