  • Um, we're right next door...

So, CW didn't pack enough food. When this happens, she calls in her order ahead to the fast-food taco place next door, runs over and grabs her waiting food, and runs back. I keep an eye on the office while she's gone.

Today, she got someone who must have just transferred, or is even less observant than I am.

CW calls in her order, and explains why and where she is [our motel].

FF Taco employee: "I don't even have a clue where [our motel] is."

Um...we're the motel right next door to you! You can see our property from where they stand at the registers.

I mean, I'm incredibly unobservant (I believe I've told the camel story here already). But even I'm aware of the businesses around where I live and work, and not just because I have to refer guests there. If I spend enough time somewhere, every day, I eventually notice what's around as well. So, I really hope this gal is just new, because if not, that means there's someone in the world less observant than I, and that is a truly frightening thought.

As it turns out, the gal was new, so all is forgiven.

As for the camel story for those who haven't heard...I came home after work. I sat down on the couch, watched TV for a couple hours, showered, and went to bed.

        Hubby: "Well?"
        Me:
Hubby: "Did you notice something different about the living room?"
        Me: "No...was I supposed to?"
Hubby: "Seriously? *exasperated sigh* Go look."
Me: *goes out to living room* "Hey, there's a camel!"

Hubby had picked up a ~4ft tall wooden camel, and brought it home, and set it up in the living room. I got home, and he said nothing. I was in the living room for a bit over two hours and never noticed it!

Reminds me of Christmas 4-5 years ago. We picked up a new microwave for mom on Christmas Eve and after she went to bed, we swapped the old one for the new one and put a big bow on it.

Christmas morning, we came down, she busied herself getting dinner cooking, and we were waiting to open our gifts, and all morning long, my sister and I were pissing ourselves trying not to laugh too much.

Finally we told her to go into the kitchen and LOOK.... Then told her to LOOK again. About the 3rd time she finally noticed the bow on the microwave (which was at the time in the middle of the counter so she was working around it to get stuff cut up and put on the stove to cook).

She still hasn't lived down that story.

And my ex-wife used to get mad when I didn't notice her new haircut.

Similarly I ordered a couple of inflatable dolphins a few months ago for an event. Got one and inflated it and hubby didn't notice it for hours until we were going to bed. It was only about 7ft...
I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

Wow, a great story. I hope you checked your order to make sure everything was there. This is a good example of how hard it can be to find competent help when you pay minimum wage. I think some kids have smoked a little too much of the wacky weed.
