So, with Maint Man on vacay, Other MOD and I have been in charge of opening the pool.
Now, our pool leaks a bit, so we have to add water to it every other day or so. Today, I turned the water on (which feeds directly into the line), and went back to do other things.
With tomorrow being Earth Day, Other MOD and I had made plans to join a local parks & rec work party (since no one else wanted to join us...no tasty company-paid lunch for them!). My original plan was to shut off the water before we went to the work party, since that would have been about an hour of filling the pool, which is about what it needed.
Well, I got busy doing other Earth Day stuff, namely discovering a recipe booklet that was all about seasonal spring fruits & veggies, and making copies for the staff (since we're supposed to involve them somehow, and no one wanted to go weed stuff with Other MOD and I...okay I can't blame them; weeding sucks). Well, that distracted me. Other MOD arrived, we drove off to the work party...
...where we weeded and mulched for two hours....
....afterwards, I introduced Other MOD to the best fish & chips place in town (where she proceeded to order the chicken strips
)...
....and then we finally went back to the motel. At which point CW asked if I had the water on out at the pool....
.....and I looked out, and the pool was full to the brim.

I mean, there was no room left for any more water! I quickly ran out and shut it off.
Fortunately, our chlorine always tends to run a tad high, so it didn't throw the balance too far back, but still....oops. A couple guests went swimming later, and the pool deck was soaked, since it just needed one person added to bring it overfull.
(Happily, it's an outdoor pool, so the water just drains off into the flower beds.)

That is a good way to look at it
