Had a customer early yesterday morning who was searching for the Hidden Valley Ranch Dip mix in the packet.
She came down the aisle w/her shopping cart while I was checking dates on the salad dressing section (my vendors had not started coming in the back yet, so I was trying to get a little ahead on next week's rotation list.) She looked like she was a bit lost, so I asked "Can I help you find something, Ma'am?"
She tells me she's looking for the ranch dip mix in the packet. I look on the top shelf, where we have the gravity fed shelving and the packets of dressing mix, dips, etc. I almost immediately found the Ranch Dip Mix and said "This one is the Hidden Valley Ranch mix. Is this what you're looking for?"
"No, it's a ranch dip mix. They're different from the dressings."
I look again - the package clearly says, in bold BLUE letter DIP. I point it out and tell her "This one says it's Ranch Dip mix. Are you sure it's something different?"
Then the light bulb flips on in her brain - "Oh," she said as her brain clicked on. "That is the dip mix. If that had been a snake it'd have bit me!"
I laughed and told her "I know, it's still early in the morning." I handed her a packet and asked "How many would you like?"
She only needed one, so I told her "It's okay, I have those mornings too once in a while. Have a great day."
Not sucky in the least - just had a bit of a delay in her brain waking up. I see this quite a bit if I'm out on the sales floor during the first hour we're open.
I guess some mornings it takes a little longer for the hamster to wake up and get working on the wheel. . .
