  • That's one original coming right up!

Found this gem in the suggestion box yesterday:

    GET "BIBLE" GUTIENBERG
Quote marks, capitalization & spelling all as found.

Soooo, we're either supposed to get one of 22 surviving copies of the Gutenberg Bible or pay $$$$$ for a facsimile. Maybe someone will donate one?

How batshit do you think they'd go when they learn that it's in Latin, not good ol' Amurikan like God intended it?

Wow. Idle curiosity and some googlin'.
A repro clocks in at around $9K.
$4.9M for the last one auctioned in 1987.
The University of Texas' copy is estimated to be worth $20M!!!

(That's probably the one you should get for your patron, Cam. )

        ETA:

        Hey, this is kinda cool.

Illuminated manuscript, no less. Seriously hard to read, even if you do know Latin.
