I had to call a customer back today because a certain product she wanted was backordered. No one picked up, so I had to leave a message. I am terrible at leaving messages, I always manage to stammer or sound like an asshole and prefer to read a message from a note I scribble to myself before I call. For whatever heavenly reason, for this message (not even read from a note!) I sounded warm, professional and helpful. I ended the message by saying if she had any questions, she could give us a call back at such and such a number.
I was basking in my professional phone manner glory when I realized I had read her her own phone number instead of the company's! I had to call her back and admit to being an idiot in a second message, then left the correct number.
Moral of the story: I am made of idiot juice and full of fail.
