  • Was I expecting the doors to just open for me?

So... I have sometimes stuffed up my shift (twice I was about an hour late due to weird xmas trading hours, and a month or so ago I was two hours early because I looked at the wrong week)... However, I have NEVER forgotten to take the key to open the shop in the mornings. I have just sent a coworker a text, and hopefully she doesn't mine me calling her early tomorrow. But how stupid can I get?!?!? Of course I need my freaking key to get inside!

To make myself feel better... Usually I always have the key, however another coworker had to borrow it in order to open the shop one day, and I forgot to take it back. I'm still a moron though.

I work for a legal newspaper, just doing typing. There were TWO times that I left work with a list of vendor's licenses that I had to type and turn in the next day, and FORGOT them at home! The first time I remembered as I was leaving. And, of course, I had left them in our truck, which my boyfriend had taken to work that day. So I had to drive to his work to get them, making me late. The next time, I didn't remember until I got to work, and had to shamefully ask my boss if I could take my lunch break to go get them. Thankfully, she called and asked for another copy to be faxed and I didn't get in trouble.
"What size can I get you, ma'am?"
    "Red."
"Okay...I'll check the red for you, but what size do you need?"
    "RED!"

That sucks about forgetting the keys.

I got sooo lucky one time. I accidently locked the 'out' door when running outside of the gas station one morning, so the door to push is locked, and the door to pull has nothing to pull on. My phone was inside and while there is a payphone outside I couldn't remember any numbers. I did however have my personal keys. I was able to wedge a key partially in and pull the 'out' door open wide enough to pull it open. Luckily I wasn't ouside for long....not the best neighborhood.

I took home our golf cart keys before. Another time, was when I was working at Walmart. I took home the keys to the automatic cart pusher. The only time the keys are suppose to come out was late at night. And since I was working nights, I took them out. For some unknown reason, I stuck them into my pockets

Oh man, that's harsh! I haven't done the key-forgetting thing (my manager has, I got a good half-hour nap while I was waiting for her to drive home and get them ) but the shift thing...Oh man, does that bring back memories.

To this day I have no idea how I managed to screw up my shifts at Starbucks like I did...they only posted the hours for the coming week, so logically it should have been impossible for me to completely miss shifts like I did.

Cue my brain...on three separate occasions I got calls asking why I hadn't come in, when I was either at my other job or somewhere where I had been [I[driven[/I] and, of course, couldn't get back fast enough. Someone else usually managed to cover me, but that was the main reason I got terminated. Couldn't blame 'em, I'd probably have fired me too!

Like I said, I still don't quite know how I was able to completely forget or rearrange my shift schedule in my head...but then again, I get lost when driving with a map and directions and/or a guide (and get the guide lost too, it's a real gift ). I feel your pain, Alfie!
