  • Accidental Shoplifter

I accidentally stole half a dozen eggs.

They were in the kiddie seat on the trolley (so they wouldn't get crushed by the rest of the groceries) and I forgot about them. And the cashier didn't see them.

I realised soon afterwards and paid at the courtesy desk. But I'm still feeling embarrassed about it.

With our son we've done that many times. Stores are quite foolish and put candy WAY below adult eye level ... so, small children snag it.

We go back, apologize, and pay for the already-half-eaten candy.

We've all done it before on accident!

We all done that. In fact last winter, I stole a pack of tea candles. I took my jacket off and put it right on top. Why I didn't move the tea candles is way beyond me.

You're rather lucky you wern't wrestled to the floor for that one, covering produce with clothing is such a common trick.

I'm not for one moment suggesting you had anything other than honest intentions but someone on the CCTV wouldn't know that.

My mom accidentally stole a bra when she was 14 - and she still talks about it to this day.

I have a friend who accidentally stole because of the self-checkouts, but that's another issue altogether.

That is true, but I did notice after I was leaving the register. And I did pay for them at Customer Service. I was checking out in the registers infront of CS. So I just joined that line and paid for them.
