  • I forgot my own name

Had to call a customer yesterday and leave a message. Not a big deal, right? Simple to do, right? Apparently not.

"Hi Jennifer, this is Brittney from Walgreens.. *pause* ahem.. Hi Brittney, this is Jennifer from Walgreens...."

Wow! Sounds like something I would do!

I'm absolutely no good at leaving messages! One time, I think I was working at a furniture company and I called a customer to let her know her furniture was in. I was stuttering the whole time and at the end of the message I said something like "please call the store at 111-222-3333." Then I hung up and had to call right back and say "uh, Mrs. Whatever, this is IHateStupidCustomers from Furniture Store calling again. You've probably realized that 111-222-3333 is YOUR phone number. The store number is 444-555-7777." I originally left the lady's own phone number on the message, asking her to call back! lol
"What size can I get you, ma'am?"
    "Red."
"Okay...I'll check the red for you, but what size do you need?"
    "RED!"
    "..."

Working for Tim Hortons in the drive through, I have been known to say, "Thank you for calling Sympa- err, Welcome to Tim Hortons."

When I worked for Sympatico, I accidentally answered the phones with, "Thank you for calling Scholastic." and everyone got mighty confused.

Oh the joys of working for more than one call centre.

Hey, I couldn't remember mine for YEARS. Then I switched companies and got a new number (long story), and I had it memorized in less than a week.

I think it's because the numbers repeat (like 123-4513) while my old one was seven distinctly separate digits (123-4567).

I say stupid stuff like this all the time. If I work a morning shift the day after I work a night shift, I will always tell at least one customer to "have a good night" at like 10:00 in the morning lol.

I've done something simliar...when leaving messages on phones, I will often say something along this line...

"Hi so and so, this is Sarlon. Its about xx:xx(am/pm) on (insert day of week here). ...." followed by the reason I'm calling.

Even if I know what day of the week it is I'm often saying things like "its uh....saturday...I mean monday"

              SOOOO embaressing!
It is by snark alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of the coffee bean that thoughts acquire 'tude, the lips acquire mouthiness, the glares become a warning.
