  • I feel bad.

    So this was a customer.

Her name was Julie Bogin. She was a customer of ours. Apperently regular enough to get us invited to her memorial. She committed suicide.

After reading the name. Finding her myspace. Seeing her pics. I still. Can't. Picture. At all. Yet all the other workers do know.

How cold hearted could i be, that I cannot picture her.

I remember other customers that had died. I can't remember her.

It doesn't make you cold hearted for not remembering her.

      RIP Julie.

Plaidman, please do NOT put this kind of spin on the situation.

Sad fact is, sucky customers are the ones who often stick in our heads. Normal people often don't. Yet you and your coworkers were obviously nice enough to her for her to pass it on to friends and family enough that they would think of you for her service.

Maybe the coworkers interacted with her more. Maybe some of THEM don't really recall her either, but don't want to admit it. Maybe in a few days or weeks it WILL dawn on you who she was.

I've had people approach me years after some event of theirs (b-day, bachelor party, fancy dinner, whatever) and thank me. To them, I'm the guy that comped their girlfriend's drink on her birthday, or the waiter who squeezed an extra place setting in for grandma so she didn't know someone in the family goofed and left her off a table. To me, they are just one of literally thousands and thousands of people I've served. The reverse is also true. I vividly remember those CSRs of any stripe who just seemed genuinely kind.

Most importantly. If you can remember every single person you've been gracious to, you're probably not doing it enough, right?
