Well today sucked thoroughly. More on that in the main section. But first, I committed a simple error that turned into a major hassle for one of my ASMs and the customer. I missed ringing in an ink cartridge. This in turn, screwed up a rebate. Now this wouldn't have been an issue, as I could have returned the other ink then resold both to get the rebate right, but the customer had no cash and had just written me her last check.
In a word:
This incident happened when both myself and the ASM were reaching the end of our ropes for the day. And of course about 100 million customers started piling up in line behind her as we desperatelt tried to correct the problem. Eventually I had to move to another registerand someone had to be put in teh Copy Center to ring while the ASM sorted out the problem, which involved voiding and re-ringing a $300+ order
Not fun, and all because of a simple mistake.
