  • At the laundromat on three hours sleep

This was not going to be a good day by any definition. After a raging case of insomnia left me with only three hours sleep, I had to go to the laundromat or go to work commando (again).

I huffed the hamper down to the Suds N Soak (Self Service, Open 8-8) and piled everything into two washing machines, went to buy soap because I was too numb to remember to bring my own (strike one), and started feeding quarters into the machines.

I was down to the last quarter when I realized that I'd been feeding money into the wrong machine. (Strike two.) My laundry was one machine down the row. Look at that, I'd even put the soap in an empty machine.

Much chagrined, I went to the front desk to ask if someone could help reclaim my quarters, as I didn't have enough now to put quarters into the machine that I'd actually dumped my dark load in. Well, she didn't have a key to the machine, but "Why don't you just move your clothes into the machine that you put the money in?"

    ...Strike three. I'm out.

I've never rolled a natural one while doing the laundry before. Now I have to go to work for eight hours. I figure if I end my day and the building isn't a smoldering pile of rubble, I'll call it a victory.

    Love, Who?
