  • a guy fell down

on saturday night,i was scrubbing the registers, and apparently i missed one of the puddles that i left. a minute or so later, some dude fell down after stepping in it. my co worker who was buffing helped him up off the floor and sent him on his way. the dude came in again last night to fill out an incident report. my coworker thinks hes full of shit. dude was complaining of back pain and stuff, while talking about how he just lost his job. he also was moving in a way that wouldnt be comfortable to do when suffering from back injuries. at any rate,if the dude actually did get hurt,i have chalked up my first casualty. im usually pretty good about trailmopping when im scrubbing, and i was surprised to hear that i missed that puddle.

Wouldn't he have had to fill out a report at the time of the incident? I'm pretty sure as soon as the accident happens a manager has to be called and a report has to be filled.

I've fallen on my work site before clocking in and security had to be notified with my supervisor ASAP.

He could've gone home fallen on purpose and is trying to use that as an excuse. And he shouldn't be able to move that well if he is claming the injuries. Do you have cameras? And if he just lost his job (keep note of that) he will probably be trying to milk you guys for all the money he can.

I hope things go well for you and I hope he's not really hurt. But who knows. Sometimes injuries won't show up for awhile thus why one should fill out a report at the time of the incident but I'm still kind of shocked that he waited until a different night.

dude can go ahead and milk wal mart for all its worth. theyll give it to him too,im sure. apparently my boss either filled out the forms wrong or didnt fill out the correct forms or something, and they havent been able to get ahold of the guy anyway,so im pretty sure nothing will become of this.
im dont know why he didnt fill out the forms right after falling. i didnt witness it or anything.

I hate that feeling. . . . . I have left a few puddles when I was a janitor but fortunately they were not where people were walking. Of course there was the time I accidentally left the water on overnight and a sewage tank overflowed....

I think that's part of the reason for having the report. Say you fall at a store and don't think you are hurt, so you tell them not to worry about it, and don't realize until the next morning you really did do some damage. You go back to the store and they say they don't know anything about it.... Hypothetically speaking. Then it's your word against theirs. If you fill out a report right away you have it recorded while it's fresh in everyone's minds.

I hurt my back at work once and I knew it was bad but I didn't REALLY feel it until the next day. I think I filled out the report at the beginning of that next shift, but then I worked there and the store manager was there when it happened. The day I did it, I rested for a little while in the break room but I finished my shift, but I had to leave early the next day because of the pain.

Though, barring someone being knocked unconscious or otherwise requiring a trip to the ER, the report SHOULD be filled out before anyone (involved or witness) leaves the store. Just to cover everyone's @$$.

My mom fell in a retail store because they had hard wood floors and some jackass left a brown shopping bag lying on the floor. She slipped, hit her knee soo hard that she tore her medial miniscus and had to have surgery. The retail store refused to pay and we had to take it to court, I think it took 3 or 4 years for them to pay part of it

            while..

One day some ass brings her kid into the store and that kid climbs up on a rack and pulls somthing off and smacks her really good in the head. Not only did the store pay for the Dr's bill, but we had to compensate the mother for missed work and she got a $500 gift card.

People aren't milking the company, they're milking the underpaid employees of the store.

Several years ago I injured myself in the parking lot of a grocery store. The only witness was a customer who helped me up and to my car. At first I didn't think it was a big deal, I just wanted to go home and take it easy. After a couple of days the pain was so bad I missed work and later ended up having 3 operations to correct the damage to my hip when I fell.

I filed the incident report with the store about a week after it happened, once I realized the seriousness of the situation. Luckily for me there was a known problem with that area of the parking lot that they had been told to fix but hadn't, so they were aware of the issue. I did end up settling out of court with the company who owned the parking lot for medical bills and lost wages, but if there hadn't been "evidence" of the problem still there I might have been totally out of luck.

My grandmother once went in to a large chain store to buy bandages and slipped on water that someone had spilled from a potted plant (this store did not have their garden area outside for some reason). She broke her arm in two or three different places; the store did not pay for anything.

Man. Just the other day, grocery store had a bit of a wet spot It's winter, it was by the doors, and it's an area that normally has all the spare carts. But the wrinkled mat slid a bit under me. I felt old because the lurch required to remain on my feet kinda hurt. I just told one of the underpaid clerks... who was bringing in replacement carts... Which would take care of the problem spot anyway.

                  Go inevitability!

If someone slips on a puddle of water then I personally think the store should'nt be liable unless its there fault, so for example if its raining what can they do? follow everyone around with a bucket and mop? No, have a mat by the door, thats it really. Where as if an accident happens beacuse of overloaded shelves, or damager flooring, that kind of thing, then they should pay.
