Whoops, forgot the password!

As is the case with many a techhead, I'm the household tech support. My mother came to me several months ago saying that a ton of crap went missing on her computer. So to prevent further loss, I implement the admin account with a password, and change her account to a normal user. Fast forward to yesterday when I need to do something that involves entering said password. I forgot it. Wound up having to wipe and reinstall, but it got resolved, still sort of kicking and laughing at myself though.

There's ways to "hack" the NT password database with a liveCD. A forgotten password is NEVER a reason to wipe, unless the system volume is encrypted (on home machines? Don't make me laugh).
