  • Misread my schedule

So . . . being the brilliant fucktard that I am, I thought I was off today and happily slept in late and then spent the afternoon gallavating around at the mall. Looked at the calendar a few minutes ago and asked . . . "What day is it?"

Written on September 1, I had put "9:30AM-6PM." Today was a workday

I feel so freaking stupid right now.

Ack. I've done that. Fortunately, I had an somewhat understanding manager at the time . . . .I offered to come in late and relieve the nurse who was covering for me, but got turned down because she wanted the OT and the incentive pay for the late call.

He didn't write me up . . . I hardly ever am late or call off, so he gave me the benefit of the doubt. But he did chew me out.

I've done that too. Talk to your manager and apologize. Managers will usually understand if you make a mistake like that once. (Do it too many times and they'll get annoyed, of course.)
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

I did apologize to any CSM who would listen to me, as well as our front end manager. The CSMs just said don't worry about it, it happens, and the FEM seemed to think it was really funny and now gives me shit for it, lol. I'll still get a NCNS on my record though, because it's a big company, with corporate and all. But I'm a squeaky clean employee otherwise, so I'm not to worried now.

(Some backstory: Me and one other Coworker get there a half hour early to open the store and get everything ready.)

I remember a few months ago when that Coworker and I were waiting out there for a Manager to show up and park in the lot and open the store. None showed up. A cashier showed up fifteen minutes after we did and chatted with us. Ten minutes later a customer showed up in his car and waited for our opening five minutes from then. Another employee showed up, and we were wondering where the opening Manager was.

It took ten more minutes for the Cashier to call the head office via the back of one of our sale fliers (I swear, if we didn't have them in the garbage outside the store, we wouldn't have had the number to call...) and the head office called a bunch of managers. Nobody knew who was supposed to open, but one of the managers who lived in the same town (Well, close enough, four minutes by car. It's on the same road.) was called, and was able to open up. He had to send his kids to school though, so he put that initial Coworker in charge of everything until another Manager could show up.

So yeah, we didn't really open until about an hour and fifteen minutes after we were supposed to.

Turns out that one of the Managers thought he was supposed to get there two hours after he really was supposed to be there, due to some inconsistencies in the scheduling that were usually rock steady. Poor fella.
