    It's been a while since I've actually posted anything...sorry. ^^'

Anywho, I still work at Burger King but I had applied to Wendy's recently because my best friend (who's being an absolute ass right now) and her mother wouldn't take no for an answer. They also applied there.

Last Sunday I'd been interviwed and the manager was impressed and she'd asked if I could come for an orientation today. I'd never really wanted to work at that place to begin with and I'd actually had plans to work at Starbucks or somewhere else.

I decided to do my own thing and call Wendy's and tell them I wouldn't be coming today for the orientation. This was around 10 in the morning. The manager was impressed even though I said I wasn't going to be working after all because I had the decency to call hours before the orientation. They were going to pay me $0.75 more than what I'm getting now as my starting pay.

My friend went to hers which was also today and when I told her why I didn't go she got short with me like he does when I piss her off and she doesn't want to hear what I have to say. I really don't want to work with my friend who is tired of seeing me all the time and her mom. That was one of the reasons I didn't want to work there...and I've already made my impression on BK and I don't want to leave for a place that's just down the street where I'd be doing the same crap I do every day at BK.

I'd feel more comfortable working at BK a little longer until I find a place I'm comfortable with that no one pushed me into going to.

Do you think I was wrong in rejecting Wendy's?

It's your life and it's your job: if I went along with everything my friends tried to talk me into, I'd be dead or in jail!!!!

Agreed, it's your life and your job, don't let your "friends" dictate what you do and how you do it.

Yup. Stay where you are, at least till your friend leaves/gets fired. Then if you're interested in the pay raise, talk with the manager again, and see if the offer is still open.

That's true, and this will also be my friend's first actual job with a paycheck. She cleans houses with her mom during the day and she doesn't get as much as she will working fast food, and she can't count on getting a steady amount she needs working with her mother...

I honestly think she just wanted me to join her in her new experience even though she doesn't want me around that much to begin with on a normal basis (which is messed up). But I'm not going to leave a place where I feel comfortable at least and become a deer in the headlights at a new place just to make her feel comfortable. I love her to death and when she got the job I showered her with support and hugs, but there are things in life you have to learn on your own...and besides, when I started at BK 3 years ago, I didn't ask her if she could work with me...

But I digress. I feel satisfied with my decision even though my best friend is pissed at me right now. If she really cared about me, she's respect my decision too...

Hmm... maybe you should get a better friend?

Dont be pressured into taking a job you dont want by a friend. My senior year of high school I worked in a pizza place with a few friends. It was easy work, easygoing, great hours, and in general lots of fun. Another friend of mine worked at a nicer restaurant, and he badgered me into putting in an application and going to an interview. They offered me good money so I was tempted, but not sure. Then I had one bad night at the pizza place and quit. If I had not put in the app at the other place I would have never quit and my summer would have been a lot more fun.
