3 weeks ago, we had one store manager, two assistant managers, and one shift manager. Since then, the store manager took another job, one of the assistant managers was transferred, one of them disappeared, and the shift manager was promoted to assistant manager. Today, we got a new store manager, and a new assistant manager, and I closed with the new AM.
I'm not quite sure what to make of this guy yet. He seems like a nice enough guy, but he is a little green, and seemed a bit overwhelmed tonight. He is from a store in the suburbs, and being downtown looked to be out of his comfort zone. Plus, it was just one of those nights. Customers must have known there was a new manager, because they were especially stupid tonight. It worked out well for me though, because I handled everything so well I think I got on his good side.
I also get the impression that he doesn't care for the new SM all that much. He asked me what I thought of him, and I said "He seems like a decent guy, but I just met him today." Tomorrow I close with SM and I really hope that I don't have to get into the middle of a pissing match between these two. Hopefully I can play my cards right and be on the good side of both of these guys, even if they are at each others throats.
