Ok so yesterday I thought I'd had $60 stolen from my drop envelope. Did what I was suppossed to do, and called both my AGM and police. The money was under the cash drawer (d'oh).
So I called AGM back and told him I'd found it. He goes into an irritated tirade (not yelling or even snapping, just frustrated) about how my accounting has been off. Then he says this:
"we've talked to you about this before, if it keeps happening we're going to have to write you up."
Record scratch. WHAT? This is literally the first time I've heard that I wasn't doing something properly. I think I'd remember getting my butt chewed about it. I remember coaching sessions from when I was a 17 year old lifeguard for crying out loud (btw I'm 36).
I asked him what I was doing wrong and how to do better, and he said "I'll talk to you on Sunday." So apparently I didn't listen to a coaching that never happened, had my backside nommed, and I get to come back tomorrow for a second helping.
Literally the only thing I can think of is that we're somewhat lax regarding who can do what on each computer. Someone may have done something odd (like the new employee who seems to be struggling with money procedures) under my name. Yeah, none of us were trained like that. We were told in no uncertain terms that employees are only to use their own logon.
So for now, that's what's happening. I am following cash handling procedures to the letter, none of this slipshod stuff the AGM himself lets us get away with to "save time." The person who relieves me is going to count the drawer and my drop before I head out. Period. If Night Audit wants to bitch that she has to "waste time" logging in, I'm sorry, but you aren't using my numbers. Talk to Corporate if you have a problem with it.
I emailed Big Bossman (who is away from the office on the unforgivable pretense of his wife just having popped out a child...SARCASM) and BCC'd myself on my personal email. I also sent AGM an email asking to bring in my punch record and the record of the bad transactions to see if I was even working then. Said AGM is a good person but I feel he's a bit lax in the integrity department (he's salaried but we still do need him to, you know, show up on time, also using the hotel shuttle to run personal errands is a bit questionable). I emailed Big Bossman on that too (also BCC'd myself) and while I didn't state it, I'm having a hard time not believing AGM may be targeting me for reporting his mild shenanigans.
