When I was in HS and a small group went to Japan we were warned of a couple things. Squat-style toilets, for one thing. (I preferred these) The second was the likelihood of communal showers and baths. The hostel we stayed at had them, and some groups decided they would go in individually. Not by group, I mean each person would go in by themselves.
So it's summer, humid and hot, and we're walking all day long and we get back to this giant line of people outside the showers. Um, no. You don't get to change the rules because you are afraid to be naked in front of people of the same gender. If this was a deal-breaker, then maybe the trip wasn't a great choice? Later, my host mom took me to a hot-springs. I'm pretty shy, so I was wary of the whole idea, but it's so very normal that it's hard to stay nervous.

What was the point of that?! It would've taken exactly as much work to actually paint the door as to pretend to paint it! It makes no sense whatsoever!
