I e-mailed the union for the grocery store I work at and was told that I have to have seniority in order to consistently work 30 hours a week or more.

I only have been working there since May, and so have no seniority.

Time to look for a better job.

I found from my union rep that I can request full-time hours once my probationary period is over. Since I passed my probationary period a couple of weeks ago, I completed a request for either 1) full-time hours or 2) to continuously work 30 hours a week or more either at the location I am currently working at or at a different location.

I just have to wait for a response.

It's a vicious circle, or cycle.

Restaurant or store plans on being busy.

          They hire more help.

          The customers do not appear.

          Everyone's hours are cut.

Even if it's *a little busier* the hours are divided among a greater number of people.

How sheltered/ uninformed / inexperienced in life is your landlord to not understand this?

That is how our landlord is.
