Before anyone tells me it doesnt matter having small boobs - I know, i'm just making fun of myself in a good-natured way.
Maybe it's time to bring the "chicken cutlets" out of retirement?

Ive just been doing some thinking about all this.

Ive been really proud of myself for getting away from a job where I was only valued for my body, and getting a well-paid job where i can use my brain. I really like it, and my mum can now say she is proud of me.

So I was thinking - why would I wana take a step backwards and get my clothes off for people to gawk at me in a bikini?

I think that I may actually turn down their offer for this reason. Is that stupid of me, or do you see what I mean?

The sneaky bastards weren't planning on paying me either! I reckon that was why they asked ME just to save money. I believe someone mentioned that before already - but now I agree! So i'm taking that on board for making my decision. I haven't told them no, but im very close to doing it!

I have no desire to begin a career in TV or modelling, so if they aren't going to pay me, I don't see how it could benefit me to do this?
I ride the time, it unfolds a new day,
another time, this world would fade away

      be happy for today

I think you answered your own question.

Or, maybe better, your question also contains your answer.

Oh, no, we know what you mean. You're becoming more defined in what you want out of a job and a career, and you don't want to do something just because it's out there. Which is good. Too many people end up in bad jobs because they just drifted along. And it's good for your self-esteem to know that you're being valued for yourself, not for your XX chromosomes.

So, is it good or bad that they weren't looking at you as a sex symbol?

Seriously, yeah, you have a small business. They have to be on the lookout for cost cutting, and were hoping that you would enjoy the prospect of being a model. (Either that, or you have a few people secretly undressing you with their eyes, and wanted to make it easier on themselves.) However, you're not planning on being a model, so refusing it fits in with the choices you made so far, and what you're planning on doing in the future.

Now, to make your refusal (assuming that's the way you do end up going) a bit easier, just use the logic you gave us: you just left a job specificly to avoid being valued for your body, and it would be counterproductive to go back to it.

I wouldn't do it, and I'd consider it quite unprofessional and bordering sexual harassment personally..
Ehhhh.... unless anyone was acting lecherous, and I didn't read anything into her posts that looked that way, not really. Now, if anyone was being a letch, or they don't take no for an answer, that would be.

I am awed and totally admire you for your convictions and principles You should be very proud of yourself for that. I agree that they were trying to take advantage of you - why pay money to get professional staff when we've got this hot chick working in the office (I originally typed "chicken"... it's lunch time and I'm hungry!). You're worth more than that, and you're CAPABLE of more than that, and you're obviously not selling yourself short, so why let them? I'd give them your reasons for refusing, too. You're a lot more than just a pretty face/body.

Sounds to me like you made the right decision for the right reasons. Nice one.

I agree. There's not a good reason to take the offer, and you listed some great reasons to not take it. Good for you!

One acting lecherous does not define sexual harassment..let's look at this in any other context:
Walmart employee being asked by management to model a bikini, McDonald's employee being asked to model one..random five & dime employee asked to hold a place card and wear a bikini, it is out of line...if it were a legitimate deal, it would be properly handled by the right (IE publicity) department, not the way it was, and frankly I would take offense to it..

and that is all I've to say on the matter (unless it goes to fratching)..
Actually I would disagree to your comparisons. Bikinis have nothing to do with McDonalds or Walmart - but a bikini is surely relevant to being in a pool/spa environment. Its appropriate to the product, which is why they have done the same thing in the past, by using a model in a bikini to advertise the spas.

I have offically said no to their offer by the way. Mainly because since im not getting paid, there isn't a benefit for me in doing it. Also because that's the kind of work/image I want to get away from, not go back to.

I know that one of my previous employers used the wife of a manager in a brochure picture, as a customer talking to a salesman. This was simply a way of cutting costs for a small business.

However TV advertisements are a different thing all together. Here in the UK, actors in TV adverts receive payments every single time their adverts play on TV.

So, since they weren't planning on paying you, I'd say you did absolutely the right thing.

Remember when Walmart used it's employees for their weekly ads? It would say what store, the employees name and department they worked in. For swimwear, they usually had the daughters of employees modeling that.
