I was getting a townhouse into livable condition once and like $15k or so in my checking account to pay for appliances, paint, tile, etc, and I got declined because my refrigerator was over my daily limit all by itself. I signed up for the store card and got 0% interest, plus free delivery and installation, so I went ahead and got everything there at the same time and just payed the card off when I got the bill....WHY DO YOU TEMPT WHAT LITTLE FAITH IN HUMANITY I HAVE!?! -- Kalga

2. Daily limit exceeded?
I'd bought my textbooks for the semester that day, then, again went to West Edmonton Mall to do some shopping. Went to HMV to get some DVDs. Total was $58 I think. Over $50 but less than $60. I remember, because I got declined for exceeding my daily limit. It took me forever to remember what the heck else I bought that day. >_<Most daily limits (in my experience) are around $300, which is extremely easy to do on textbooks!Quoth Andara Bledin View PostA $50 daily limit? That's ridiculous. How do they expect anyone to get by on that? I hardly make a purchase that isn't at least that much.

Mine is $300 because of the type of account and my credit rating. I suspect that if I wanted to bother, I could get it raised at this point.Quoth Primer View PostMost daily limits (in my experience) are around $300, which is extremely easy to do on textbooks!
Anything that would require more than that I can do with a check.

Bright_Star : I agree with you for the most part, but I had that happen once with my Macy's card.....had no idea what my limit was until I'd tried to use it on some sale items and it was declined. The associate who was ringing me up got someone from credit on the phone for me, and the guy was nice enough to increase my limit a bit, but still, I wish that the actual limit of the card would be shown on statements......would make it much easier for everyone, I think.

I get declined cards all the time. People love to spend their last little bit of change on fast food, and also that last little bit they have on their debit card! It's insane. I'll just say, "sorry, that didn't go through, do you want to try again or pay by cash?" Then they'll give me maybe a dollar in change, and try putting the rest on their card. If it declines again, they give me another 50 cents, and try again. It can really hold up a line. But if no one's waiting, I don't care, try for as long as you want. I'm getting paid to stand at my register either way.

It was flat out embarrassing last week when my credit card was declined.
I hadnt used it since July of last year. I didn't want to tempt myself.
Well, money is tough right now with moving and expenses. In a month I will be a bit better off. I decided to charge my gas purchase. My card was declined. I didn't want to make a scene at the store, so I swallowed my pride and used my debit card and nearly cried.
I called Capital One when I got home and found out that it was my own fault because my credit cards was frozen due to inactivity...........they probably figured it was fraud!

Capital One sucks. I had to fight with them over having paid them off. They kept siccing collections agencies on me. And they did something heinous to my boss to the point that he will tear up any promotional mail he gets at work from them, and he will badmouth them to anyone else that gets anything from them. He's quite vehement about hating them.
