, of course. After an omen like that, people were buying up the Poe display nearly as fast as the original Harry Potter display! Why they even bothered putting up a display when they knew it'd be sold out in under 24hrs is beyond me, but we all know what's not allowed
. There were actually two people who actually ended up playing rock-paper-scissors to see which of them got to buy the hellishly expensive (Worth every penny, that book was magnificent!) hardcover the bird had landed on. It seemed a little silly to me at the time, but these days I'd have only been surprised by it because they didn't get into a fight over the book.

A blackbird once flew into Craptastic Mexican Ripoff Furniture when I worked there. It was only me and the assistant manager there that day, and as it happened we both turned out to be terrified of flapping flying things. So we hid under a table.
The bird flew around for a while, shat everywhere, and then buggered off again. That was a fun clear-up.
Oh, and once, I was at the laundrette and a pigeon walked in off the street. It did a few laps of the room on foot and then left again. Never took off once, just walked about. Made me giggle.

Saturday evening, we're the only place open in the area so there are little to no customers, and we are the BORED! I'm sitting at my till, almost asleep when this little sparrow flies in and lands in the middle of the till area.
I phone one of the staff at the CS desk and he comes over. Silly twit, he tries to catch it with his bare hands. He got about 5 feet to it when it flew up to the overhang above our doors. At this stage, one of our entertainment guys comes up and I point out the bird to him. At this point the bird flies down again. Now We have two silly twits trying to catch this bird with their bare hands. They tried 3 times with me laughing my ass off at this.
Suddenly one of them gets a (supposedly) great idea; a net! Making one out of a shopping bag, a strip of cardboard, and a broom pole, they wait for the sparrow to come down again. Finally, it does and and they swing the "net". Now this is a plastic bag, so it is loud when they swing it. Bird takes off over into appliances. They go off in hot pursuit. To appliances, to audio, to home theater, back to audio,a nd into the speaker room. Then the real fun begins.
They decide to close the doors to the speaker room. Now this room has only one way in or out and they just prevented that escape. Little sparrow gets the trapped feeling and gets agitated. Suddenly the two aren't swinging the net to catch the bird, but trying to fend off the dive bombs. They finally catch the bird and let it go outside.
Total time? 30 mins. Just 1.5 more hours of boredom to get through before I can go home. *sigh*
